The work load is very heavy but for my future goals it has suited my needs.

Moriah from Spring 2023

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

Tokyo Disney Sea was more fun than I expected it to be ad a good learning experience; it was also a unique opportunity to be able to perform in the graduation ceremony and experience it even if I wasn’t graduating

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The work load is very heavy but for my future goals it has suited my needs. The end of term review courses are mostly helpful, though I think the last term’s reading section could have been a bit more in depth. However, overall the program is well structured and resources are there to help if needed

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Kanji textbooks, in class grammar/sentence making practice (both alone and with partners), applied practice

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

It’s hard work, so be prepared to study, but don’t forget to balance enjoying your time in Japan. This experience is just one door opening to broaden your horizons, so enjoy it as much as you can!

Testimonials

I’d say that the two weeks we got as Summer Short Term students before starting the actual Summer Term with the international students helped a lot. It prepared me for the intensity and structure of the program. I’d say the structure of the program and every day classes were very helpful in advancing my Japanese skills. Switching from some review and practice with my peers, to dictation, to kanji, etc, was engaging. I just think the intensity and structure of the program was ideal, at least for me.
