Very helpful course for kickstarting Japanese study. Lessons with the good teachers are really fun.

Andrew from Summer 2015

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

In the spring, the class day in Shinjuku Gyoen Mae park was fun. Generally, everyday class discussion was satisfying.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

The best days were when we had a small class (10-13 students) and we did class discussion and exercises. Overall, the textbooks (Minna no Nihongo I, II, Kanji 1,2,3, and custom KCP material) were very good. I hated writing sakubun at first but by the end I enjoyed it. This was one of the most useful things.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

Very helpful course for kickstarting Japanese study. Lessons with the good teachers are really fun. Most of the other students are motivated and they will motivate you to study hard. I recommend the program.

Testimonials

KCP is a great school and you can learn a lot here if you put in the work. Expect to study a lot, and expect teachers to be strict when grading, especially in levels 1-4. There will be days when you don’t think you’re getting any better, but that’s usually because the classes are always going to be challenging. That’s a good thing.
