Please come prepared to work hard. KCP is for serious students and those who come with the mindset of mostly play and little study will not thrive at KCP.

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I loved the Tea Ceremony Club and the Koto Club, which I attended every week. Other activities such as the calligraphy activity were fun as well.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I really liked the writing class and reading comprehension components of the class. I feel like I have made leaps and bounds due to the challenging curriculum. There wasn't anything I found uninteresting or unproductive.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I really liked the short pronunciation practice and the 3-minute conversation we did everyday. I also found the emphasis and constant reminder to pre-review material and to do the pre-review exercises before coming to class as very helpful to my learning.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Please come prepared to work hard. KCP is for serious students and those who come with the mindset of mostly play and little study will not thrive at KCP. In addition, start conversations with your non-American peers and do it often. You'll find as you go along that you are speaking more and more Japanese and less English. It's also fun to get to know the culture of your new friends!

Testimonials

Not only did I have a great time at KCP, but the improvement I’ve witnessed in my Japanese proficiency is astounding. I still can’t quite believe I’ve learned so much in such a short time. Although I’m sad that I’m leaving by the end of this term, I’ll always have fond memories of my time here. I am truly grateful to all the staff, especially the instructors, as well as my fellow classmates for making my time here exceptional. I highly and without hesitation recommend KCP International Japanese Language School to anyone looking to learn Japanese.
